Further details are available from Mrs Claire Cullinan & Mrs Yvonne Enright, our Green Schools Co-ordinators.
Our school is a Green school and some rules have been put in place to help maintain this status. Representatives of pupils from Juniors to 6th classes are on the Green School committee but all pupils are encouraged to be part of the Green School programme.
- All food should be eaten inside classrooms and all lunch litter should be taken home.
- All other waste should be separated and put in the bins provided in each classroom.
- Lights should be turned off and doors closed as room is vacated at break time.
- The doors leading out from the school should remain closed to limit the escape of heating.
- Pupils from 6th class will assume responsibility for ensuring the 3 outside doors are closed each morning.
- Teachers will ensure whiteboards and laptops are tuned off at the mains at the end of school each evening.
Global Citizenship Litter & Waste
We have been very busy working on our Global Citizenship Litter & Waste Flag. We all explored different countries around the world that we had connections with. We learned how to become good citizens. We explored how we can all work together as a school to help protect our world. We helped get our community involved by setting up the Picker Pals in our Junior & Senior Infant rooms.
A Special Visitor to our school
We were delighed to welcome Mr Billy Kelleher to our school recently. He came to talk to the children about all they are working on in the Global Citizenship and Litter & Waste flag. The whole school sang their green school rap for him. He discussed how they can look after the school and the world by doing simple things. The children had a great time.
