Physical Activity

Physical Activity

In the past two years, the Clonmoney NS community have undertaken various ‘Active’ initiatives. We have no indoor sports facility in Clonmoney NS, so we love to keep moving when we get outdoors! Scroll down this page to find pictures and information on our various activities and initiatives. We regularly tweet our latest activities on twitter.

Active Walkway

We launched our Active walkway last week in school. We can not use the field at the minute so we are using the active walkway for active stations. Children are walking to each point and doing an activity. The Senior classes had an action and then they had to solve a math’s problem. We look forward to getting it all around the field in a few weeks when the weather improves.

Spooktacular Walk 🧛

The whole school enjoyed a stroll down Jones’ lane. They even dressed up for the occasion! Thanks to Mike and Marcia for allowing us access the road for an enjoyable and safe walk.

1k a Day!

Our most recent running initiative involved children getting out each day in October and running at least 1km. We look forward to cross country competition at this time every year, but unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, the event could not take place this year. Our solution : Hold our own!

Hurling Leagues

During October, there was fierce fun and competition as classes from 3rd to 6th took part in hurling leagues. The games were all well matched and there were fantastic skills on show. Big thanks to Mr.Guilfoyle for running the 3rd/4th league and Mr.McCormack who organised the 5th/6th leagues. We had a huge participation rate from the students in these classes. Well done all.

Olympic Handball

The Senior classes devleoped their olympic handball skills with Mr Guilfoyle.

Run to Lapland 🎅

On the ‘run up’ to Christmas, we decided to see if we could run the distance from Clonmoney NS to Lapland. All classes participated and everyone enjoyed the break from the classroom. Distances run each day were recorded by each class on Google Sheets and some healthy competiton ensued. Needless to say we arrived in Lapland well in time for Christmas!!!

Bike Week

The pupils of Clonmoney NS took on the ‘Bike Week’ Challenge set by Clare Sports Partnership and guess what???? We won!!!. Huge thanks to parents who ensured the trip to school was a safe one.
